· Halloween: When it comes to Halloween, Tisbury is a scary place, and it doesn’t get scarier than the New Vic@Tisbury: Here’s Arachna Beetlegeuse, the building’s caretaker and Steph Wells from the Tisbury Swimming Pool to tell you more: “Did you know that the Victoria Hall is the site of Area 51.5 – a top secret facility. But, tonight, Monday 31 October is the one and only chance for local families to see and experience the horror of what’s inside. Doors open from 5pm. £3 entry or 4 tickets for £10. There’s a Goodie bag IF you make it through to Elizabeth Hall, where there’s a Tombola and lucky dip games to play. Come if you dare!!!” · Co-op: And if you’re trick or treating up the High Street tonight, the Co-op is holding a Halloween Costume competition from 5.45pm-6pm for kids aged 10 and under. Scary stuff!
| · Now this sounds like fun if you’re feeling peckish this Tuesday lunchtime, 1 November, Tisbus has organised a lunch outing to the student-run Wessex Restaurant at Wiltshire College in Salisbury where you can tuck into a three-course meal for £12.00. Fantastic value! You need to book your seat on Tisbus which does a door-to-door pick up starting at 11am. The fare is £5.00, and carers go free. Contact: the Tisbus Coordinator on 07500 802525. · Tisbury Netball Club plays on a Tuesday night from 7.45-8.45 at the Nadder Centre. All abilities and ages from 14 upwards, are welcome. First session free!
| “Walking football” every Wednesday at the Nadder Centre 10:00- 11:00 am, £3 a session.
| Messum’s contemporary female artists exhibition which is running throughout November. It includes an eye-catching series of dynamic digital sculptures by Charlotte Colbert, the Franco-British film director and moving image / multi-media artist. Entry is free and there’s a nice café on site. Messum’s is open from 10am Thursday to Monday.
| Every November, Tisbury Arts Group Juniors put on a fantastic musical theatre production and this year it’s the Rocky Monster Show on 11 and 12 November at The NewVic@Tisbury at 7.30pm. Here’s Director Becky Davies to tell us more. Tickets £3.50 children, £5 adults.
| Lest We Forget: The Royal British Legion’s Door-to-Door Poppy Appeal is happening all week and they’ll be collecting on the high street this weekend, so please lookout for them. Tisbury’s Remembrance Day Wreath Laying will be on Sunday, 13 November at 2.45pm at the War Memorial followed by an all-denomination Remembrance Service at St John’s Church.
| And last but not least, Revd. Juliet Hulme at St John’s Church, tells me that their Christmas Charity Fair is back on Saturday 26th November in the Hinton Hall from 10.30 – 12.30. They’re offering free stalls for local charities to sell their Christmas wares. Juliet says: Please could she have some paperback books for the book stall. Homemade mince pies and Christmassy sweet treats would also be most welcome nearer the date. Phone Sally to book your stall on 07929 435474.
